I came across this image of a Michael Kors dress from his 2006 spring collection last week and I instantly feel in love with the easy, feminine, style. I keep thinking it would make for the perfect relaxed beach wedding dress. While a spring 2006 dress isn't probably that easy to find these days, it is a great inspiration pic to start your search if you're looking for a dress for your relaxed beach or garden wedding.

How good are long weekends?! I had an amazing weekend full of fun and friends. Me and the ladies headed out to see the Great Gatsby, it was a great night and I really liked the movie. Afterward there was lots of talk of parties, because those party scenes in the movie were incredible. I'm sure there is going to be heaps of Gatsby themed party in the next year. Just like this roaring 20's party I featured here last year. But today isn't about that, let talk party decoration inspirations. There are lots of party ideas like curtains of thin gold or silver streamers. Or a stacked champagne fountain (I've always wanted to try this). Or an overload of candelabras spread over floor for a more intimate party. But my favorite would have to be oversize translucent  balloons, used on mass. They can divide a room, create columns, work great as backdrops and look great in lights. Balloons have been popular for a while now, but the white translucent colour and large groupings of the oversize balloons make it seem so much more luxurious.

This weekend is a long one in Sydney so this means one thing, DIY. With the extra day I'm planning on tackling something a little bigger. I'm going to attempt to build myself a coffee table. The apartment needs something smaller, to give the room a more spacious look.  I would love something like this Neal gold and marble piece. Unfortunately its a little out of my price range, so I'm improvising. I'm ordering hairpin legs like these which I can hopefully paint gold and the difficult bit I'm going to attempt to make a concrete top like this one from Weekday Carnival. I'm hoping the concrete will polish up bright and smooth. I'm still not 100% how I'm going to go out about but I'm looking forward to the results.

I hate the cold. I mean really - I hate it. The scientist always says he should have promised to keep me warm in his vows because it's one of his main jobs. This winter I'm particularly feeling the cool and haven't quite got my winter wardrobe working yet. So I'm on the look out for an awesome winter coat. Something I can pile on over lots of overlays, that will protect me against the wind on my commute. I need something with a bit of length, and a collar that I can snuggle into. I love the colour and big toggle buttons on this 1st jacket, and the casual feel of this second jacket is perfect for work and is big enough for lots of layers. I'm got some serious shopping to do.

I'd also love a yellow rain coat for all the rainy days. I saw someone wearing one just like this on the way to work the other day, and I've been searching the net for one ever since.

Are you a keeper? Do you have boxes in your garage of keepsakes. I use to have draws and draws of cards until I decided it really wasn't practical. But than I got engaged and received some of the loveliest cards filled with funny comments, heartfelt wishes and really good advise, and I just could throw them away. So I created a photo album, it has photos of the day we got engaged and the party as well as lots of cards and messages. Being in an album makes it a much better format to flip through. When I saw Jackie and Matt do this for a guess book I thought it was great. The craft paper envelopes are super cute and the old photos are priceless.

Welcome back to the week. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning after a hectic and awesome weekend. I took time out for the normal house work time over the weekend and headed to the Art Gallery of NSW to check out the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes. It was a great exhibition with a huge range of work and some I would have happily pack in my bag and taken home with me. I was super impressed with the work for the Sulman prize, I dream of being able to paint like that, check out the finalist online. After a walk around the habour and a drink to get out of the rain we joined the hordes to watch the lights of vivid. I loved the projects on the MCA and probably could have stayed and watch all night if I didn't need to me a friend for dinner. Sorry my iPhone photos don't do it justice.  What did you get up to this weekend?

As the weather has been getting colder I've been baking more and more. The oven warms the house, the smell of fresh baked goods make the apartment seem so welcoming. And there is nothing better on a cold day than curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and a delicious cake, or having the ladies round for cake and debrief at the end of the weekend. This weekend I'm keen to try one of Julie Marie Craig's recieps, the talented baker and photographer behind Always With Butter. Her Elderflower cake sounds amazing and who can go past a Lemon and Poppy Seed cake with lemon cream cheese frosting?
